Published by Lindsay on Feb 3rd, 2010

For the LOVE of Necklaces…….

Whether you are in love, out of love, or just plain OVER love, Valentine’s Day is near.

With that said, there’s no better time to drop a hint to your main squeeze …or even just gift yourself!

Chocolate and Steel's "my heart belongs to..." necklace

Who does your heart belong to???  A necklace and conversation piece in one!

I Love You Necklace

Profess your love without saying anything at all!

My favorite thing about this ENVELOPE LOVE LETTER LOCKET is it’s slightly vintage, worn-in finish.

SCOSHA NYC's Battered Heart Necklace

I love the idea of wearing a battered heart necklace on V-Day…even if you are in love. Rock it!!

Bring on the Glitz and Glam!!

Anne Hathaway in Mr. Larkin's Elsa Dress

This last week I was invited to a star studded Golden Globe hospitality suite, sponsored by Live Loyal PR and EMC Bowery.  I was asked to attend as a featured Style Expert and so I met with each guest and gave them one-on-one style advice on everything from A-to-Z. With so many Golden Globe parties coming up (InStyle, HBO, Fox Searchlight and NBC), I fit and styled a bunch of celebrities in gowns and cocktail dresses, chosen from designers Randi Rahm and Rose Taft.

Guests were pampered (literally) from head to toe with beauty treatments sponsored by Valerie of  Beverly Hills, OPI and Suburbia Salon and enjoyed cocktails by Ciroq Vodka and snacks from Doughboys….and did I mention the 360-degree, breathtaking views of  Los Angeles?

The event was held at a private estate in the Hollywood Hills and was attended by celebrities such as Lauren Conrad, Nicole Scherzinger, Lacey Schwimmer, Ali Landry, and other industry insiders. Good times!

What I’m noticing is that more and more designers are displaying an old Hollywood glam inspiration.  Anything to snazz or jazz up an outfit, seems in vogue and all the rage.

Mr. Larkin Old Hollywood Glam

Take this eco-conscious Mr. Larkin cotton gown. It is the epitome of Old Hollywood glam. Its stunning with a pair of heels for night and equally appropriate for day with a flat sandal.

Eco-Friendly Designs at LA Fashion Week

Published by meledesigns on Oct 16th, 2008

Eco-conscious fashion enlightened the Gen Art LA Fashion Week runway with designs from Popomomo, Velvet Leaf, and The Battalion. These designers are changing the industry by taking advantage of environmentally friendly textile techniques and paving the way with organic cotton, soy-based, and bamboo materials. Maggie Gyllenhaal supported these eco-friendly fashion designers by opening up the show and voicing her opinion about why we all need great green fashion.

Velvet Leaf started the show with leg transformation skirts and open back breezy dresses that sparked excitement from the attendees. The colors were full of light pastels with dark splashes of navy blue, the right twist to keep you edgy and girly.

The Popomomo collection invented the word eco-chic with their line of versatile dresses with smart lines. Pompmomo’s current fall collection on Shopflick shows off their bamboo design skills with the Hera Bamboo Jersey Top fit for an eco-fun-friendly night out.

The Battalion designs awed the runway with their chic conscience signature pieces. This design duo is known for their selection of eco-friendly comfort knit/jersey dresses, tops, and jackets. “Every piece is tailored seamlessly with couture details and finishes.” – The Battalion

Hello all! My name is Kyla and I just turned 21 years old! I was born in Manhattan, raised in South Florida, and I currently reside in Los Angeles; all major fashion meccas. My interest in fashion started from a very young age. I can remember back to when I was in elementary/middle school I started watching fashion themed shows on the E! Channel and later came the Style Network. While the other kids in class were shooting spitballs at each other, I was sketching dress designs. While they all went to soccer practice after school, I went straight home, turned on the TV, and watched runway shows from New York, Paris and Milan. My interest in fashion has carried with me to the present. I’m currently interning at a fashion-based website called Shopflick.com, while attending Cal State Long Beach. My forte’ is finding great bargains! I can put together an outfit, including shoes!, for under $100, even under $50! Being a very observant person, I love to people watch and see what people are wearing and how creative they can be. Thus, I’m going to take you on trip through the streets! I will be covering “Street Style”: what people are wearing, who’s doing something unique, who’s following the “trends,” and who’s violating the word “style” all together! So, sit back, relax and enjoy my off-beat sense of humor as I call people out on their horrid fashion sense… I kid, I kid, I’ll be nice…well, I’ll try to. : )

Some of my fave Shopflick items:

Raquel Allegra’s Asymmetrical Shirt. So one-of-a-kind, I haven’t seen anything like this anywhere!

Ric Rac Clothing’s Fluxe Jumper. This is adorable and looks really fun to wear during Summer!

Verameat’s Dino Eating Fried Chicken Ring. I just think the concept for this ring is so clever and hilarious!

Desideri Design’s Swarovski Crystal Necklace. Gorgeous in every way, I love all of her pieces.

Frozen Peas’ Sleep Little Fox Necklace. I can’t help but love this, after all my nickname is Fox.
